Q&A: Why do Republicans keep lying when they say the majority are against Obama’s health care reform bill?

Question by gitrdoneobama: Why do Republicans keep lying when they say the majority are against Obama’s health care reform bill?
Newsweek Poll Feb. 17-18, 2010.

“As you may know, Barack Obama has proposed a plan to change this country’s health care system. From what you have seen or heard about what he has proposed, what is your OVERALL opinion of Obama’s health care reform plan - do you favor it or oppose it?”

40% Favor / 49% Oppose

“Now I’m going to read you some SPECIFIC proposals people have made to change the health care system. As I read each one, please tell me if you personally favor or oppose this change. Here’s the first/next proposal. . . .”

“Creating a new insurance marketplace - the Exchange — that allows people without health insurance to compare plans and buy insurance at competitive rates” 81% Favor / 13% Oppose

“Requiring health insurance companies to cover anyone who applies, even if they have a pre-existing medical condition” 76% Favor / 19% Oppose

“Requiring most businesses to offer health insurance to their employees, with tax incentives for small business owners to do so” 75% Favor / 25% Oppose

“Requiring that all Americans have health insurance, with the government providing financial help to those who can’t afford it” 59% Favor / 36% Oppose

“Preventing insurance companies from dropping coverage when people are sick” 59% Favor / 38% Oppose

“Creating a government-administered public health insurance option to compete with private plans” 50% Favor / 42% Oppose

“Now please think about the proposals I just described to you. ALL of these proposals are included in Barack Obama’s health care reform plan. Having heard these details, what is your OVERALL opinion of Obama’s plan — do you favor it or oppose it?”

48% FAVOR / 43% OPPOSE

Americans do support the health care reform bill, after they have heard the details.
Okay, so what are people against in this bill then that would make vote against it?
Obviously they are not against the cost, because this bill will pay for itself and lower the deficit by 130 billion

98% of Americans will not see extra taxes

30 million more Americans will have access to health care

Hmm…I’m still waiting for an answer…
Only 1% of businesses will see an extra tax on top of that

  1. Born of a Broken Man says:

we’re seeing a lot more than just opposition to the health care bill.

  2. Mo says:

Every poll shows the majority are against this. WHy do you think they havent been able to pass it with a majority…and a super majority las t year?

If this is such a great bill that everyone wants, it would have been passed 8 months ago. Why cant the dems get it through theur own party?

  3. PIXIE says:

now post all of the reasons people hate it.

  4. Christopher says:

Do you not see the post on this thread? Your the only one for the bill, because your a fool.

Either youve already gotten a pink slip, or the business owner you call “greedy” that you work for…that been keeping your family fed is about to give you one.

  5. robot_hooker5 says:

If you re-read those questions, you’ll see they are clearly written with a bias in favor of ObamaCare, meaning the results of the poll are meaningless.

  6. Right Wing Nerd says:

You have a very biased and untrue source. The majority of the American people have said they do not support it in the Gallup poll, which is far more reliable than your radically left-wing website.

  7. Just Plain American says:

You mean they read ALL the points of the bill to them. NO They sat some people down in a room and ask them about hand picked certain sections of the bill and if they were for or against it.

That doesn’t mean everyone was For the overall bill.

I wonder if they asked them about the specific sections dealing with how much they would be paying for this wonderful insurance?

    Give me a break.

  8. Turd Ferguson says:

This has an average of a lot of polls and shows opposition at about 50%.

  9. ian l says:

    I am an independent.

However, there are more people against this bill than for it.

Just look around and talk with most working people (except the unions) and they will tell you.

  10. Concerned says:

    Your selective post is invalid.

We want HC reform BUT it has to be done by BOTH parties and APPROVED by the MAJORITY of Americans.

    Why didn’t you add this?
Oh ya you don’t know about this do you?

You might want to read this. It has already passed.

Half of Obamacare was already passed in the Stimulas Bill.

The creation of more worthless federal boards and councils were in the stimulus bill and are now in place. According to Dr. Dave Janda:

“The first part of The Obama Health Care Plan was buried in The Stimulus Bill which was signed into law by the President in February. It is the second part of The Health Care Plan which is now being debated in Congress.”

“The underlying method of cutting costs throughout the plan is based on rationing and denying care, not preventing health care need. The plan’s method is the most inhumane and unethical approach in cutting costs. The rationing of care is implemented through a Council, equivalent to the National Health Care Board in the British Health Care System. The name given to this panel is The Federal Coordinating Council For Comparative Effectiveness Research (“Federal Council”). (Section 9201 H.R. 1 Version of the Stimulus Bill.)

Online Stimulas bill and is searchable.

You can’t use one poll. this is one poll of 1002 people. check the majority of nationwide polls. They speak otherwise.

  12. LiveLoveLaugh says:

Republicans aren’t lying. Very few people are for this bill.

Secondly all your information you’re providing is FALSE! The deficit will most definitely go up and most of our taxes will go up. This bill will affect the small businesses greatly. Our economy is too bad right now for this type of bill.

It is also takes away the reasons why we’re even here in America. Remember “TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION” Our founding fathers came here to get away from Europe. Now we have the same healthcare!

I’m personally against this because people should be able to go to college, and get a job so they can pay for their own healthcare. If a person isn’t disabled, they should be able to get out of the bed and actually work for their own wants and needs. Who are we really helping? The disabled is already getting taking care of by our government. People should never complain they don’t have money to go to college either, because you have scholarships, grants, pell grants, foundation scholarships. If that doesn’t work you can always go for a loan. We go to college to learn for a new beginning of our life and that’s taking care of ourselves instead of being babied by our parents.

The only people we’re helping are the people who CHOOSE to NOT have healthcare. They would rather buy the BMW than have the health insurance. After the bill was passed a lady on TV was crying about how she could afford health care for her kids now. During the interview she also mentioned her kids also had cell phones. Kids don’t need cell phones, they need healthcare.

I’m sorry I don’t want to pay for people like that!
