Q&A: What languages do i need to learn for ios phone app development?

Question by global imrc: What languages do i need to learn for ios phone app development?
I don’t know anything in computer programming but i do have a great idea for an app that i’ve heard hundreds of positive responses to my idea. I have always wanted to learn how to create something that will impact a lot of people positively. I’m ready to learn now but i don’t know where to start. I know i’ll need to know how to use cocoa touch written in objective-c using X-code 5.0.2. Where do i start? I’ve heard of HTML, CSS, PHP, Ruby on Rails, C, C++ and then Objective C. Do i have to learn all those languages before i start learning Objective C? Where do i start since this will be a self-learning no classroom experience? Also, do i have to learn to use something prior to Cocoa to understand Cocoa touch?
I also heard of Object oriented Programming (oop)

  1. Kaydell says:

I would start with the following books in the following order:

    1. “Learn C on the Mac”
    http://it-ebooks.info/book/2023/

    2. “Learn Objective-C on the Mac”
    http://it-ebooks.info/book/1244/

    3. “Beginning iOS 6 Development”
    http://it-ebooks.info/book/1558/

These books are all available from the publisher as ***free**** downloads. (More advanced books cost money)

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    1. XCode & C
    2. XCode & Objective-C
    3. XCode & Foundations & Cocoa Touch

You can skip the rest, including Cocoa which is for Mac. The Mac and iOS share the Foundations framework which you will need for both.
